Police respond to woman’s cries at Vinares, find her unconscious

A young woman was found unconscious in an apartment at the Vinares complex in Hulhumale’ Phase II on Monday morning, shortly after the police received reports regarding hearing the sound of a woman’s cries.

The incident was reported to the police at around 06:05 am Monday.

The police initially reported via X that they had received a call about a woman screaming from an apartment at Vinares. But in a later press statement, the police said the call was regarding the sound of a woman’s cries, at that it was reported by the family.

The original statement on X has since been deleted.

According to the police, officers quickly responded and forced entry into a room in the residence, and found a 21-year-old Maldivian woman unconscious inside.

“She was immediately taken to Hulhumale’ Hospital and is now under medical care,” said the police, without providing any details regarding her medical condition.

In an updated press statement, the police clarified that the incident was reported to the police by the family.

The police added that while there wasn’t anyone else in the room where she was found, there were family members present at the apartment.

“We are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident,” said the police.
