Ibrahim Rasheed, the vice president of the Civil Service Commission (CSC), tendered his resignation on Tuesday, in face of a no-confidence motion against him at the Parliament.

Rasheed confirmed his resignation to Sun on Tuesday afternoon, but said he did not have a “specific reason” for his decision.

The resignation comes a day after the Independent Institutions Committee passed a no-confidence motion against Rasheed, and forwarded it to the Parliament floor for a final vote.

The grounds for the no-confidence motion against Rasheed are unclear, as the committee meeting on Monday was held with the mics switched off.

Rasheed, who joined the civil service in 2000, was appointed as the vice president of the CSC in 2020.
