Fenaka suspends three Miladhoo branch staffers

Fenaka branch in N. Miladhoo.

Three employees have been suspected from the Fenaka Corporation’s branch in N. Miladhoo in connection to what the state utility company said is “part of an ongoing investigation.”

The confirmation of the suspension comes a day after the main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) issued a statement alleging that that employees from the Fenaka branch in Miladhoo who belong to the MDP were penalized after the party defeated the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) candidate in the women’s development committee byelection held last weekend.

An official from the Miladhoo branch told Sun on Monday morning that the employees were suspended in connection to an investigation by the head office in Male’.

“The case is under investigation by the head office. You’ll get the information from the Fenaka head office. I am unable to make a comment,” said the official.

The Fenaka head office was not immediately available for comment.

Fenaka has been repeatedly hit with allegations of recruiting and penalizing employees based on their political affiliation. The state utility company is also under investigation for corruption by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
