Fenaka Saeed's passport revoked, medical travel denied

Fenaka Corporation's Managing Director Ahmed Saeed Mohamed.

The Prosecutor General's Office (PG) has formally requested the Criminal Court to withhold the passport of Ahmed Saeed, former Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation, citing an intelligence report furnished by the police.

Saeed's passport was initially impounded in October of the previous year in connection with an ongoing investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Ahmed Shafeeu, spokesman for the PG Office, confirmed to Sun that Saeed had submitted a request in May, accompanied by medical documentation, seeking permission to depart the country. Shafeeu stated that the office had initially authorized the issuance of Saeed's travel documents for a period of 15 days.

However, subsequent to this authorization, the office has now petitioned the Criminal Court to deny the passport's issuance, based on an intelligence report received by the police, as stated by Shafeeu. He did not provide further details concerning the report.

It is pertinent to note that in a separate Fenaka-related case in December, the PG office formally charged Saeed with abuse of official position.

Saeed and another individual have been implicated in connection with a 2018 transaction.

In the same year, under an agreement between Fenaka and Blazon Inc., allegations arose that Blazon Inc. released funds for work without its completion or confirmation of completion.

Consequently, Saeed and Maryam Dheena Solih, who served as Fenaka's procurement head at the time, have also been charged with providing undue favors to Blazon Inc.
