A total of 55 people from two homes have been provided temporary housing following the fire at M. House Plaza on Sunday morning.
The fire at M. House Plaza, a house that has long remained vacant, was reported to Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) at 6:35am this morning.
According to MNDF, its firefighters attended the scene and through their efforts, were able to bring the fire under control at approximately 7:47am.
National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), via a post on X, said the main waterpipes at two homes were damaged in the fire.
As such, the NDMA detailed that 55 people from the two houses have been provided temporary housing until the repairs are complete. They include 20 expatriates.
MNDF said the fire originated from some waste at the home. No one was injured in the incident, added the authority.
