The Maldives government has contracted Thailand’s Control Data to redesign the Civil Registration, Vitals Statistics and Identification (CRVSID) Management system.

Minister of State for Homeland Security and Technology Dr. Mohamed Kinanath signed on the agreement on behalf of the government while, Control Data’s Managing Director Nart Liuchareon signed on behalf of the company.

According to the Ministry of Homeland Security, the contract will primarily support the Department of National Registration (DNR) under the Digital Maldives for Adaptation, Decentralisation and Diversification (D’MADD) project’s Component 2: “Digital Identification for Improved, Online and In-Person Service Delivery”.

The system will improve the management of e-Faas managed by National Center for Information Technology (NCIT), population registries managed by Local Government Authority (LGA), data of Ministry of Health, and data required by the Maldives Bureau of Statistics through a digitalized network, while enhancing safe, secure and real-time data collection.

Upon completion of the system’s design, D’MADD will procure the affiliated software and hardware required by DNR to implement the system.

Control Data (Thailand) Limited (CDT) began its operations as a data backup center before pivoting to the distribution of computer mainframes to government agencies, state enterprises, and private companies. The company is a leading technology solutions provider specializing in digital transformation and biometric solutions.

CDT has developed advanced digital identity verification platforms that follow international standards, and their works include implementing the Thai Digital Identity (ThaiID) mobile application.

The company has also developed and has been maintaining the digital system of vitals records, including mortality data of Thailand since 1983.
