Police have launched an investigation into the sexual abuse of a four-year-old girl in central Maldives.
The case was reported to the North Central Police, which comprises of islands in K. Atoll, AA. Atoll, ADh. Atoll and V. Atoll, on November 21.
According to the police, the suspect in the case is a boy under the age of 18 years.
The police did not say if they have arrested the suspect, but said they were investigating the case.
Crimes against children are treated by the police as serious offenses. The law enforcement agency does not disclose the island where such crimes take place in order to protect the identity of victims.
