Three arrested from Male’ with 1.14 kilos of drugs

The police made three arrests from the Maldivian capital over the weekend in a joint operation run by Drug Enforcement and Narcotics Intelligence.

The arrests were made on Saturday, October 19, based on information collected by Narcotics Intelligence regarding a drug peddling operation in Male’ City.

The police searched three properties in Male’, and arrested three individuals. They are:

Ibrahim Majid, 31, Ranakuri, Dh. Kudahuvadhoo

Mohamed Maihan Fayaz, 19, Andhaleebuge, K. Kaashidhoo

Mohamed Aisharu Yoosuf, 22, Ever Green, L. Kalaidhoo

The police also found 1142.04 grams of drugs and over MVR 86,000 in cash from the properties.

The suspects were presented before the Criminal Court for their remand hearing on Sunday. Aisharu was remanded in custody of the police for 15 days, while Maihan and Majid were remanded for seven days.

Court documents show all three suspects have pre-existing criminal records.
