One of the four suspects arrested during raids carried out in Male’ and Gaafu Alifu Atoll under ‘Operation Alimagu’, following the expansion of the nationwide counter-narcotics operation targeting major drug traffickers to Gaafu Alifu Atoll, has been identified as a political appointee in the current administration.
The identities of the suspects arrested were disclosed by the Police last night. They are:
Out of the suspects, Anaam is a senior political director at the Economic Ministry and Shaffah was a political director at the Home Ministry during the last administration as confirmed to Sun by both Ministries on Monday.
The Police, on Sunday night, said Shaffah, Madheeh and Ameen have been remanded in custody pending the outcome of their trial, while Noorul-Nizam has been remanded in custody for 15 days.
‘Operation Alimagu’ was launched last November. It targets major drug traffickers who also launder their illicit proceeds.
