Aminath Shareef and Namza shifted to other ministries

Aminath Hussain Shareef who was serving as a State Minister at the Ministry of Family and Social Development and Aminath Namza who was serving as a Deputy Minister at the same Ministry have been shifted to other ministries.

The changes have been made amid speculations of hostility within the Ministry of Family and Social Development.

Speaking with Sun, an official from the Ministry confirmed Aminath Shareef and Namza were shifted to other ministries. The official was unaware of the reason behind the changes.

Namza told Sun that she was shifted Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works. 

The change also comes amid claims of being forced to resign by Aishath Shooza who had been serving as the head of department at the Ministry of Family and Social Development that oversees the Home for People with Special Needs in K. Guradhoo.

Notably, Aminath Hussain Shareef is the daughter of Central Maafannu MP Asma Rasheed.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has recently made major changes to his cabinet as well. In this regard, Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer was appointed the new Finance Minister, replacing Dr. Mohamed Shafeeq, Health Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel as the new Foreign Minister, and Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, the Principal Secretary to the President on Public Policy, as the new Health Minister.

Zameer was appointed as the new Finance Minister after Shafeeq resigned from the post. The reason for the abrupt decision is unclear at this point.
