PNC delegation meets CPC's International Department Minister

A high-level delegation of main ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) led by Transport Minister Mohamed Ameet has met with Minister of the Department of International Liaison of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Liu Jianchao.

The delegation traveled to China at the invitation of CPC on Tuesday.

The delegation compromised of key figures from PNC, such as the party’s Secretary-General Zeenaz Adnan, members of parliament, and officials from various ranks within the party.

Speaking during the meeting Liu highlighted the 10th anniversary of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s historic visit to the Maldives, emphasizing the long-standing friendship between the two nations. He also reiterated China’s commitment to enhancing relations further.

“China is ready to strengthen political dialogue, deepen practical cooperation, and jointly promote the development and prosperity of the region, as well as that of the Global South,” he said.

Liu also conveyed CPC’s willingness to closely collaborate with Maldivian political parties including PNC through the exchange of experiences in governance and party leadership.

Meanwhile, Minister Ameen also spoke regarding the historical significance of the Maldives-China relationship. He expressed heartfelt gratitude for China’s support in the Maldives' socio-economic development and voiced the Maldives’ readiness to continue cooperation in crucial areas such as transportation, development, and finance. He also stressed the importance of collaboration in trade and tourism, key sectors for the Maldives' growth and prosperity.
