The ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) has opened its newly expanded headquarters, a four‑storey office building inaugurated by President Mohamed Muizzu on Thursday evening.

The party began using the premises in July 2024. The building was previously occupied by the opposition MDP and The Democrats before being taken over and renovated by the PNC

As part of the expansion, the structure was enlarged to four floors, and the nearby Thoum Cafe' was relocated to make space for the upgraded headquarters.

A large LED screen has also been installed on the exterior of the building. The screen is expected to be used to share party information and display updates during meetings and events.

From the outside, the new headquarters appears to be one of the largest office buildings ever developed by a political party in the Maldives.

According to the latest figures from the Elections Commission, the PNC has added more than 5,000 new members over the past six months and now has 74,048 registered members.
