N. Holhudhoo Council states the body of the middle-aged woman from the island who was found dead in her home on Tuesday with visible wounds is being transported to capital Male’ City for further investigation.
Zakiyya Moosa, 50, was found dead in her home on Tuesday morning. Subsequently, Maldives Police Service deployed a special team to Hulhudhoo to investigate the case.
Sharing the latest updates on the case with Sun, Holhudhoo Council President Rilwan Mohamed said Zakiyya’s body was dispatched to Male’ City moments earlier in order to conduct further investigation.
Zakiyya is survived by her husband, two sons and one grandchild.
Local sources who spoke to Sun reported that Zakiyya suffered from mental health issues, for which she sought professional help. However, this has not been confirmed by her family or official channels.
According to one source, Zakiyya was seen talking and interacting with other people, shortly before she was found collapsed inside the storeroom of her home, with wounds on her throat and a knife on the ground near her body.
However, the police have yet to say whether they are treating the death as suspicious.
