Investigators deployed from Male’ to probe Holhudhoo woman’s death

A special investigative team has been deployed from the capital, Male’, to investigate the case of a middle-aged woman from N. Holhudhoo who was found dead in her home on Tuesday with visible wounds.

Zakiyya Moosa, 50, was found dead in her home on Tuesday morning.

In the initial press statement, the police said they responded to the report of a woman being found wounded in a home in Holhudhoo.

The police attended to the report and took the woman to the local health center, which confirmed she was deceased, said the spokesperson.

In a second statement in the afternoon, the police said that a special investigative team had left for Holhudhoo to investigate the case.

Local sources who spoke to Sun reported that Zakiyya suffered from mental health issues, for which she sought professional help. However, this has not been confirmed by her family or official channels.

According to one source, Zakiyya was seen talking and interacting with other people, shortly before she was found collapsed inside the storeroom of her home, with wounds on her throat and a knife on the ground near her body.

However, the police have yet to say whether they are treating the death as suspicious.

Zakiyya is survived by her husband, two sons and one grandchild.
