Gadhdhoo ice plant’s capacity upgraded to 50 tons

The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has upgraded the capacity of the ice plant in GDh. Gadhdhoo from 25 to 50 tons.

In a statement on Monday, MIFCO announced that the Gadhdhoo ice plant now has the capacity to produce 50 tons of ice flakes per day.

According to MIFCO, unlike other ice plants, the ice flakes will come in buckets, making it more convenient to fishermen.

MIFCO currently operates five ice plants across the country. They are, in:

  • Hoarafushi: 25 tons (ice flakes)
  • Maduvvari: 25 tons (ice flakes)
  • Gaafaru: 25 tons (ice flakes)
  • Gadhdhoo: 50 tons (ice flakes)
  • Thinadhoo: 50 tons (ice flakes)
  • Fuvahmulah: 25 tons (ice flakes)

MIFCO also operates three fisheries complexes They are:

  • Felivaru Fisheries Complex: 100 tons (ice blocks)
  • Kooddoo Fisheries Complex: 80 tons (ice blocks)
  • Addu Fisheries Complex: 50 tons (ice flakes)

MIFCO said it is also making the final preparations to take over the management of 18 ice plants run by Fenaka Corporation.
