By-elections results proof of President’s growing popularity: Abdul Raheem

Ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) Chairperson and Parliament Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla said President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s growing popularity was cemented with Saturday’s by-elections.

He made the remarks on X in a post congratulating the PNC candidates who won the by-elections. Abdul Raheem congratulated President Dr. Muizzu and the candidates in his post, and thanked those who voted to elect the members.

The ruling party secured five seats from the by-elections held on Saturday in Male’ City, F. Bilehdhoo, Kulhudhuffushi City, and R. Rasmaadhoo.

PNC candidates secured all three vacant seats of Male’ City Council, while the party’s candidate secured Bilehdhoo council president’s position. Additionally, north-Kulhudhuffushi seat of the northern city’s council was secured by the ruling party’s member as well. The only seat that did not go to PNC was the female member’s seat of Rasmaadhoo council, which was won by an independent candidate.

The ruling party had congratulated all the members who won Saturday’s by-elections as well, and thanked the members and everyone who helped with the campaign efforts.
