A car traveling across Laamu atoll Link Road on Thursday afternoon caught fire.
Maldives Police Service said the car was traveling from L. Maandhoo to Gan across the link road, when it caught fire. The authority’s Laamu division was notified of the fire not long after the incident.
The authority later confirmed the fire has been completely extinguished and said no one was harmed.
Police added they were looking into the case to identify the cause for the fire.
This is the most recent such incident of a traveling vehicle has caught fire, while earlier a motorbike had caught fire while it was in motion as well.
Two weeks earlier a car parked at Velana International Airport (VIA) had caught fire as well.
