Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has thanked the Saudi government for the excellent arrangements made for hajj pilgrims.

He expressed his gratitude in a letter sent to the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

In his letter, President Muizzu prayed that the Muslim Ummah upholds the principles of compassion, generosity, and unity that characterize the significant period of hajj, and that Almighty Allah bless the Ummah with mutual understanding, harmony, and peace.

He also extended his warmest congratulations and best wishes to the Crown Prince, and the government and people of Saudi Arabia on the auspicious occasion of Eid al-Adha.

He concluded his letter by wishing the Crown Prince good health and wellbeing, as well as continued happiness and welfare for the brotherly people of Saudi Arabia.

1,150 Maldivians travelled to Saudi Arabia to perform this year’s hajj, including 50 people who received government sponsorship to perform the pilgrimage.

Government sponsorship of hajj pilgrimage for 1,000 people living below the poverty line during his five-year term was one of President Muizzu’s electoral pledges.
