Safety fence around Hulhumale’ building blown off during heavy rains

The safety fence built around one of the Apollo towers under construction in Hulhumale’ was blown off during heavy rains and strong winds on Friday evening.

Videos circulating on social media show the safety fence being blown off during heavy rain and strong winds and falling towards the road, where vehicles are seen passing. The fence does not completely fall on the road, but is hanging towards it. 

The tower is located in Hulhumale’ Reethigas Magu.

It is not known whether anyone sustained injuries in the incident.

Following the incident, Police Spokesperson Ahmed Shifan urged to implement safety precautions at construction sites located in both residential and non-residential areas to minimize dangerous incidents similar to that of Friday’s evening, as the country experienced severe weather conditions.

The severe weather is expected to continue for several more days.
