The academic calendar has been amended so that that the school holiday next year falls on the month of Ramadan.
According to the academic calendar released by the Education Ministry, the academic new year begins on May 26 and ends in March. As such, the school holiday is from March 9 to April 6.
Meanwhile, the first term break will begin on September 26. The second term will begin on October 6 and end on April 6.
But teachers will need to return to work earlier, on April 3.
According to the calendar, next year’s Ramadan will begin on March 1.
The previous administration had changed the beginning of the academic year to mid-year, citing that December is the peak tourism season, making it hard for parents who work in resorts to spend the holidays with their children. But the incumbent administration decided to roll back the change.
