MTCC contracted to build hospitals in three islands

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been contracted to build hospitals in three islands; N. Manadhoo, M. Muli and R. Alifushi.

The agreements were signed on Saturday by MTCC’s CEO Abdulla Ziyad.

According to the Health Ministry, MTCC is required to build 50-bed hospitals in Manadhoo and Muli. The projects are valued at MVR 185 million.

The company is required to complete the projects in 720 days.

Health Ministry said the construction of the new hospital buildings will resolve the shortage of space at the health centers in the islands, and benefit not just the local population, but also neighboring islands.

According to the ministry, solar PV systems will be installed in the hospitals to minimize spending on electricity.
