Islamic Ministry says it collected MVR 1,599,113 as Zakat al-Fitr within the first 10 days of Ramadan.

According to the Islamic Ministry, it received MVR 273,108 as zakat from normal rice from 22,759 individuals; MVR 62,020 as zakat from Thailand white rice from 886 individuals; MVR 24,340 as zakat from red rice from 304 individuals; MVR 364,560 as zakat from normal basmati rice from 5,208 individuals; MVR 303,000 as zakat from high quality basmati rice from 3,030 individuals; and MVR 523,500 as zakat from premium quality basmati rice from 4,188 individuals.
It also received MVR 19,130 as zakat from normal flour from 1,913 individuals; and MVR 29,475 as zakat from atta flour from 393 individuals.
According to the information, total 38,681 people have paid zakat so far.
The collection of zakat al-Fitr will continue until April 6.
