Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has denied rumors that he has moved out of his official residence, Hilaaleege.
A news website reported on Monday that Hussain had moved out of Hilaaleege in Male’ City and into an apartment in Hulhumale’. The news site reported that he moved out of the official residence because he was being spied on by the government.
In a post on X on Tuesday morning, Hussain rejected the claims as “baseless”.
“This is completely baseless. I appeal for a halt to such lies and instigation of strife and discord within society,” he wrote, sharing the news report, which has since been removed.

A top government official confirmed to Sun that Hussain has yet to move into Hilaaleege, which is still under renovation.
Hilaaleege is the official residence of Maldives’ vice presidents. Hussain’s predecessor, Faisal Naseem had also resided in Hilaaleege.
