Fisherman injured in shark attack stable after surgery

The condition of the young fisherman who was injured in a shark attack on Tuesday is stabilizing, according to the Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital.

The 28-year-old man, part of a crew of a boat from F. Feeali, had been fishing for grouper in HA. Atoll when he was attacked by a shark on Tuesday morning.

The injured fisherman was initially treated at the HA. Hoarafushi Health Center, before he was transferred to the Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital.

The hospital previously reported that the fisherman had a six-centimeter wound in his left hand.

A spokesperson from the hospital told Sun on Wednesday that the man underwent surgery, and that his condition is now stable.

The hospital previously reported that he was transferred from the health center because the doctors there were unable to stop the bleeding.
