The cabinet, on Sunday, has decided to include nationalism in the school syllabus as a separate subject starting the next academic year.
At a press conference held at the President’s Office on Sunday regarding the decisions made during today’s cabinet meeting – Public Policy Secretary Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim revealed that the cabinet had decided to include nationalism in the school syllabus as a separate subject starting the next academic year.
Introducing nationalism as a separate subject is an electoral pledge of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Speaking at the press conference – Nizam said the Education Ministry had submitted a paper on including nationalism in the school syllabus as a separate subject, adding that the initiative was driven by crucial factors such as reviving nationalism and fostering a generation that loves and is well-versed with the characteristics of nationalism.
Nizam, noting efforts were underway to include nationalism in the national syllabus starting next year, said discussions will be held with the President’s Office on all related matters.
The prevailing academic year’s second term will conclude on April 30th as per the revised academic calendar publicized by the Education Ministry. The next academic year is slated to commence on May 26th of this year and will conclude in February 2025.
