MDP’s mayoral candidate Adam Azim states he will implement the housing project of former president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih if elected.

Speaking at a mass rally held on Thursday night to officially conclude his campaign – Azim said the MDP’s administration had addressed the housing issue during the past five years.

Therewith, he said the current administration does not need to pledge to resolve the housing issue, adding that the administration should implement the former administration’s housing project.

Azim, noting 800 hectares of land is available from the Male’ area itself, said there was no need to reclaim Fushidhiggaru Falhu to add on to the difficulties of Male’ residents, as they would have to travel by boat.

“What we want to assure Male’ residents is that we will be fulfilling your housing needs by linking the districts via bridge,” he added.

Criticizing President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s housing project, Azim affirmed that he will undertake all efforts necessary to implement the projects initiated during the former administration, if elected.

He also pledged to resolve the issues faced by Vilimale’ residents, including improving the services provided at Vilimale’ Hospital and introducing funeral services in the district.

Azim has criticized the current administration’s Fushidhiggaru Falhu project on previous occasions as well. In this trajectory, he said the priority at present should be to develop Gulhifalhu and Giraavarufalhu from which the previous administration has issued land from, including establishing basic services at these locations.
