Soldiers have been deployed to drain the flooded streets of Male’ City amid torrential rain.
The efforts to drain floods, using pumps, are underway in several areas of Male’ City; the flour warehouse, Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), West Park, and Boduthakurufaanu Magu.

Maldives Metrological Service (Met Office) has issued a yellow alert for torrential rain and thunderstorms with gusts of winds from Kaafu Atoll to Meemu Atoll, till 2:30pm.
As per the alert, winds up to 45 miles per house and rough seas are expected in the region.
A white alert has also been issued for heavy rain and thunderstorms from Raa Atoll to Laamu Atoll till 3:30pm.
As per the alert, strong winds of 22 to 27 miles per hour with gusts of 40 miles per hour and rough seas are expected in the region.
Met Office, on Tuesday, had warned of torrential rain as a low-pressure area formed over the eastern Maldives moves towards the Arabian Sea, crossing the archipelago. The office forecasted the most severe weather conditions for central Maldives during this period.
Heavy rain last week across the Maldives had resulted in damage to homes in both Male’ City and atolls. National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has previously stated that 70 homes in Male' area were flooded.
