Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef returned to the Maldives on Thursday morning, after concluding an official visit to Montenegro.
VP Hussain travelled to Montenegro to address the 3rd Congress of Democratic Montenegro, which was held in the town of Danilovgrad, earlier this week.
He was invited to address the Congress, by Aleksa Bečić, the First Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro, and President of the centrist political party, Democratic Montenegro.
In his address, VP Hussain called to embrace the spirit of democracy, not just in words but in deeds, and to empower every citizen to engage, contribute, and shape the destiny of their nation.
He also held talks with Bečić regarding enhancing cooperation between Maldives and Montenegro, and visited the Parliament of Montenegro, on the sidelines of the Congress.
He was accompanied on the visit by Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu), the Ambassador-at-Large at the Maldivian Foreign Ministry.
Maldives and Montenegro established diplomatic relations on November 24, 2009.
