VP returns to Maldives after official visit to Geneva

Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef returned to Maldives on Thursday morning, after concluding his official visit to Switzerland and China.

Hussain had traveled to Geneva, Switzerland, to participate in the high-level event to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Human Rights 75).

He attended the opening ceremony panel discussion on human rights at the Human Rights 75 high-level event, where he stressed that equality emphasizes the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the inherent dignity of all individuals, leaving no room for partiality.

He also attended the Roundtable on the Future of Human Rights, Environment, and Climate of the Human Rights, reiterating the urgent need for global solidarity to address environmental challenges.

He also met with dignitaries from other countries and heads of UN agencies on the sidelines of the event.

Before travelling to Geneva, Hussain made an official visit China to attend the China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Development Cooperation, organized by the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), which was held in Kunming, Yunnan Province.
