The foreign woman who was arrested in connection to the abandoned newborn baby who was discovered dead at AA. Dhigurah on Sunday morning has been remanded in custody pending the outcome of her trial.
The deceased baby, a female carried to full term, was discovered inside a bag at Dhigurah’s landfill.
A 30-year-old Sri Lankan woman was arrested in connection to the case from Velana International Airport (VIA), as she awaited to depart to Sri Lanka.
Police, on Monday, said the woman, when presented before the court, was remanded in custody pending the outcome of her trial.
Dhigurah Council President Ibrahim Usman who spoke to Sun on Sunday morning said the baby was inside a bag of waste collected from households and guesthouses on the island.
He detailed that the baby was discovered while emptying waste bags collected from households and guesthouses back at the waste management centre to destroy the waste.
