President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has requested the current administration to halt seven matters during the period of transition.

A letter from president-elect Muizzu to the incumbent president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih stressed the importance of halting some matters to ensure the smooth transfer of power.

He put forth seven matters to be halted in this regard. They are;

  • Investment by any government body
  • Development of any land by the government and issuing new permits for the sale of land
  • Changing the ownership of any government-owned properties to another party
  • Execution of bilateral conventions and agreements
  • Initiating new projects including PSIPs
  • Changes to the salary structure of any government body
  • Hiring new civil servants and granting promotions to any existing civil servant

In Muizzu’s letter, he thanked President Solih for the exemplary democracy he had shown after the election, in addition to providing assurances of cooperation in the transfer of power.

On Wednesday, the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) had also instructed all state-owned companies against initiating new projects.

Muizzu has appointed PNC’s chairperson Abdul Raheem Abdulla (Adhurey) as the director general of transition.
