President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, on Thursday, has instituted the 'Office of the President-elect' on Thursday.
The office, established under the Presidential Transition Act (Law No. 05/2010), is aimed at facilitating the President-elect to execute his duties and responsibilities during the government transition.
Its establishment was announced in a directive by the President’s Office. The directive mandates that crucial information about government agencies be prepared for the president-elect to ensure a smooth power transfer that does not disrupt government operations or interrupt services provided by the government to the citizens.
In this regard, government agencies have been instructed to transmit documents to the Office of the President-elect via the Government E-Letter Management System (GEMS).
In his directive, President Solih also implored all personnel appointed by him to continue performing their assigned duties and responsibilities until the conclusion of his current presidential term.
The establishment of the 'Office of the President-elect' comes after president-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s appointment of PNC’s Chairperson Abdul Raheem Abdulla (Adhurey) as the director general of transition and Firuzul Abdulla Khaleel as the transitional spokesperson.
The President’s Office reports that Hussain Amir, Secretary of Corporate Services at the President's Office has been designated by President Solih to manage this matter on behalf of the President's Office.
