Applications have been opened on Thursday for the post of chief judge at both Civil Court and High Court.
The chief judge post at Civil Court became vacant following the sudden death of Judge Ahmed Nimal Junaid, who had been holding the post, last month. Judge Faruhaad Rasheed, another judge in Civil Court, has been designated acting chief judge in the interim.
Meanwhile, the chief judge post at High Court became vacant following the retirement of Judge Hathif Hilmy, who had been holding the post, last year. Judge Hussain Shaheed was appointed acting chief judge subsequently.
In light of this, Judicial Service Commission (JSC), on Thursday, opened applications for these posts, in addition to the post of a judge at Civil Court.
A Civil Court chief judge receives a basic salary of MVR 31,000. They are entitled to an MVR 15,000 living allowance, MVR 1,650 risk allowance in addition to medical insurance and phone allowance.
A Civil Court judge receives a basic salary of MVR 30,000. They are entitled to an MVR 15,000 living allowance, MVR 1,650 risk allowance in addition to medical insurance and phone allowance.
A High Court chief judge receives a basic salary of MVR 38,000. They are entitled to an MVR 15,000 living allowance, MVR 3,300 risk allowance in addition to medical insurance and phone allowance.
The deadline to submit applications for these posts is 12:00pm on October 19th. Applications can be submitted through JSC’s Fahires portal.
