Opposition PPM-PNC’s presidential candidate Dr. Mohamed Muizzu says he does not plan on disrupting any of the ongoing development projects, if elected to office.
The Male’ city mayor made the remark during a campaign rally in Haa Dhaal Hanimaadhoo on Saturday – the first stop in his campaign tour.
Addressing the rally, Muizzu said he will not block development to any island, adding that the opposition coalition fully supported Maldives’ development.
Highlighting on the Hanimaadhoo airport development project, Muizzu said the project will be of immense benefit, if it is carried out in a manner that is beneficial to the government.
He said the materials for the project should be sourced from the island, and at least a percentage of the jobs at the airport must be reserved for the island’s residents.
Muizzu said the project could be conducted better than now.
Some of Hanimaadhoo’s residents shared their concerns with Muizzu, including the need for a good hospital in the region.
Muizzu is accompanied on his campaign tour by his running mate, Faresmaathoda MP Hussain Mohamed Latheef, and members of the PPM-PNC leadership.
