Holhudhoo wall collapse: One remains hospitalized

Two of three workers injured after a wall collapsed during a road development project in N. Holhudhoo have been discharged from the hospital.

The incident, which took place at around 05:45 pm on Tuesday, resulted in injuries to three local workers employed by the Road Development Corporation (RDC).

One of the workers sustained head injuries, while another injured his shoulder and hand, and the third injured his hip.

All three were transferred to the Unfoogaaru Regional Hospital on Tuesday night.

Holhudhoo Council’s president Rilwan Mohamed told Sun that two of the workers were discharged and returned to Holhudhoo on early Wednesday.

The third worker, who sustained fractures to his hip bone, remains hospitalized.

Rilwan said that none of the workers sustained serious injuries, and that they were stable.

The workers had been digging up the ground near the wall – made of coral stone and held-up with sand bags – when it collapsed on top of them.
