Sri Lanka’s Capital Marine and Civil Construction Company (CMCCC) has been awarded a project to reclaim land for airport development projects in three islands.
The project agreement was signed by Planning Ministry’s Director General Fathimath Shana Farooq and CMCC’s Managing Director Sevaraja Manivannan on Wednesday.
Under the USD 42.4 million project, CMCC is required to reclaim land in B. Thulhaadhoo, Th. Vilufushi, and Sh. Bilehfahi.
This includes, 44.70 hectors in Thulhaadhoo, and 56.34 hectors each in Vilufushi and Bilehfahi.
The plans to build an airport in Bilehfahi had been announced during former president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s administration, while the projects to build airports in Thulhaadhoo and Vilufushi were conceived during President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration.
