Villa Group holds blood donation program

A blood donation program held by the Villa Group in collaboration with Maldives Blood Services has received immense support.

The program began on Sunday with the participation of Villa Group’s various subsidiaries. It has been described by the company as an “important step to boost the level of blood donation” in the Maldivian community.

Villa plans on conducting the program monthly.

According to Villa, most of the employees who donated blood on Sunday were first time donors.

Villa Group said the aim of the program is to ensure an undisrupted supply of blood to those who need it.

The company stressed that blood donation is vital to saving lives and improving the health system, adding that a sustainable blood supply is a huge step forward for a country with a high demand for blood like the Maldives.

Villa said that continuous blood donation ensures an adequate blood supply for medical treatments, emergencies.

The company’s blood donation program promotes awareness on the importance of blood donation and active participation among employees, and benefiting a larger number of individuals.

Maldives has 940 registered thalassemia patients. 320 of them get their transfusions from Male’.

Villa said it hopes to continue the program in a sustainable manner, with a large number of participants in the upcoming blood donation programs.
