Maldives is braced for a rainy Eid al-Fitr, according to the weather forecast by Maldives Meteorological Service.
A meteorologist who spoke to Sun on Monday said the greater Male’ area will experience some rain during Eid, which begins Friday.
“It shows some rain. It doesn’t show heavy rain. But it does show some rain clouds,” said the meteorologist.
Maldives Meteorological Service forecasts heavy rain for southern Maldives, and few showers for central and northern Maldives.
The three-day Eid al-Fitr holidays sees an uptick in domestic travel. Maldives Meteorological Service says the seas aren’t expected to be rough.
The greater Male’ area is set to hold mass congregations for this year’s Eid prayer. But only if the weather permits, according to Islamic Ministry. If the weather does not permit, Eid prayer will be held in all mosques where Friday prayer are performed.
