The FlyDubai aircraft which suffered a burst tire during landing at the Velana International Airport (VIA) last week has been ferried out to Dubai.
The Boeing 737-9 MAX aircraft suffered a burst tire during landing on March 28.
Aviators Maldives reports the aircraft was ferried out to Dubai last Tuesday, a week after the incident.
The burst tire had forced the closure of the airport’s runway. Though the incident did not result in any injuries, multiple flights were diverted. The runway reopened after around four hours.
The incident is under investigation by the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).
The incident had taken place in the airport’s new runway, which opened on October 6, 2022.
It was the first time the runway had to be temporarily closed.
