Direct flights to Azerbaijan a success: Vice President

Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has stated that the launch of direct flights from the Maldives to Azerbaijan represents a significant milestone in tourism promotion.

He made the remarks during the courtesy call paid to him by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elnur Mammadov. The meeting took place at the President’s Office on Wednesday morning.

While highlighting the launch of direct flights to Azerbaijan, the vice president remarked that this was a notable achievement in tourism promotion and strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

At the meeting, Vice President Hussain and Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister also discussed ways to enhance the relation between both countries and collaborate in areas of mutual interest, including climate change, culture, trade, and tourism.

Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Azerbaijan were established on June 15, 2006.
