MTCC begins operating buses for school students

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has begun operating special buses for students traveling from Hulhumale’ Phase II to Male’ City for school.

The company began operating the buses Monday.

The routes:

  • R6 route between Hulhumale’ Phase I and Phase II
  • R7 route between Hulhumale’ Phase II and Male’ West Park
  • R8 route between Hulhumale’ Phase II and Male’ Carnival

The buses will operate until the end of Ramadan.

A spokesperson from MTCC told Sun the school buses will be ready at 07:50 am. The buses will leave at 08:05 am.

The bus on the R6 route will make stops at Synthetic Track, Amin Avenue, and Flat 120. Meanwhile, the buses on the R7 and R8 routes will start from the Hiyaa Flat Stop 1.

Each student can be escorted by one parent.

The launch of special school buses come amid widespread public concern over lack of capacity in regular buses.
