Unlicensed driver crashes motorbike trying to flee police

Police took two people into custody early Tuesday, after getting involved in a hit and run.

According to police, the incident took place around 01:03 am.

Police were patrolling near the Gadiburu in Maafannu district of Male’ City when they came across a speeding motorbike. The driver refused to stop as instructed by the police, and crashed into two other motorbikes near the Nalahiya Hotel.

There were two people on the motorbike, the driver and a passenger.

They refused to stop even after crashing into the two motorbikes and attempted to flee the scene.

They were both taken into custody.

According to police, the driver was unlicensed.

The case is under investigation by the police.
