Four crew members, stranded at sea, following a fire at a supply boat seven nautical miles off L. Maavah, have been rescued safely.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) said that the fire was reported to the authority at approximately 7:15am this morning. They detailed that the boat had already sunk by the time firemen and soldiers arrived at the scene.

MNDF said that four crew members aboard at the time of the fire – one Maldivian and three foreigners – were discovered six nautical miles off Maavah. They were rescued and transported to L. Gan Hospital for checkups.

Sun has learned that the supply boat was traveling from Raa Atoll to Robinson Island Resort located at Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll. The cause of the fire remains unclear at the moment.
