The Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen, arrived Sunday morning on an official visit to the Maldives, at the invitation of Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
Prime Minister Hun Sen and accompanying delegates were received at the Velana International Airport (VIA) by Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid. He also received a guard of honor from the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF).
The Maldivian government is set to hold a ceremony on Monday to officially welcome Prime Minister Hun Sen to Maldives.
During the three-day visit, Prime Minister Hun Sen is set to meet President Solih and hold official talks on strengthening bilateral cooperation, followed by the exchange of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between the two countries.
President Solih and Prime Minister Hun Sen will also deliver a joint statement on the outcomes of their discussions.
Economic Ministry is set to hold a business forum on the sidelines on the visit, which will be attended by the chamber of commerce of both Maldives and Cambodia, and is designed to boost trade between the two countries.
The Maldives and Cambodia established diplomatic relations on September 21, 1995.
It is Prime Minister Hun Sen’s first visit to the Maldives.
