Ghiyaasuddin International School has introduced a bus service specifically for students and staff residing at Hulhumale’.

Ghiyaasuddin School’s HR Head Ahmed Naeem told Sun on Thursday that the purpose of providing the service was to facilitate easements for parents and students in a manner that also ensures the safety of the students. He also said that the school decided to introduce the service at the request of parents.

The service is provided by the school in partnership with a bus service provider. A fee is charged from the students for service. Naeem said that the school held discussions with the state-owned Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) regarding the matter.

“At that time, as they did not have the capacity to provide that service to the school, an announcement was made seeking parties. Discussions were held with the parties who applied. We chose to move forward with the party which we felt was the best,” he detailed.

The service was launched for students of Ghiyaasuddin School residing at Hulhumale’ on Sunday, the first day of the prevailing term.

“The service is going smoothly so far,” Naeem added.

He thanked Maldives Police Service (MPS) and Housing Development Corporation (HDC) for the assistance rendered to the school in providing the service.

“During our travel time, Police manage the traffic flow on the roads and assist students in crossing the roads through zebra cross,” he said.
