Higher Education Ministry has opened applications for 15 scholarships for Maldivian nurses to train up to Master’s Degree level and specialize.
Higher Education Minister Dr. Ibrahim Hassan said the purpose of the scholarships is to improve the quality of healthcare services across Maldives.
“We need to properly train people to improve the quality of healthcare services in Maldives,” he said.
Nurses selected for the scholarships can enroll in a university in any of the SAARC countries, or Malaysia or Philippines.
They will need to find placement themselves.
Higher Education Ministry advised nurses selected for the scholarships to ensure the university they select is approved by the Maldives Nursing Council and Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA).
The course must be a full-time course taught in English medium. The course must also require physical attendance and must have a supervised practical component.
Nurses have six months to find placement.
The scholarship is fully funded by the Maldivian government. In addition to tuition, nurses will receive a two-way ticket to the country where the university is located, a monthly stipend, book allowance, establishment allowance, departure allowance, insurance expenses and visa expenses.
