President Solih: Regional collaboration important for peace, stability

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih spoke on the importance of adhering to the regional collaboration to ensure peace and stability.

He made these remarks on the message sending greetings on the occasion of the 38th SAARC Charter Day.

In this statement, he sent felicitations to Esala Ruwan Weerakoon, the Secretary-General of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), the Secretariat, institutions affiliated with SAARC, and the people of the South Asian nations.

Present Solih in his message stated that Maldives recognises the importance of adhering to regional collaboration and working together in order to ensure peace and stability are maintained for all.

Additionally, he reiterated Maldives' commitment to the principles and values underpinning the SAARC Charter.

He further highlighted the long histories of trade, cultural exchange, and goodwill in times of need that have bound the people of SAARC countries.

Concluding the message, President Solih expressed hope to continue to work together to achieve progress and prosperity for the people of the SAARC region.

SAARC Charter Day is marked every year on December 8.
