The project was carried out under a grant agreement signed between the Japanese Embassy in Maldives and Rathafandhoo School on February 19, 2019.

The Japanese government provided USD 81,757 in grant assistance for this project under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP) scheme.
According to the Japanese Embassy, this would enable students to study subjects such as science in a suitable environment.
GGP is a part of the Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA) implemented by the Embassy of Japan in Maldives in order to empower people at the grassroots level since 1996. It is implemented in broad areas such as education, environment, health, transportation and energy with the view of contributing to the sustainable development of the Maldives.
