Fenaka Institute for Training and Research and Maldives Institute of Technology are conducting a course to train the staff at the 14 ice plants the Fenaka Corporation recently took over.
The course, Certificate III in Refrigeration and Maintenance, began on November 14.
According to Fenaka, the main purpose of the course is to train capable staff to ensure sustainable and uninterrupted services for fishermen from the corporation’s ice plants.
The staff lack any training in refrigeration, and that the course will therefore be a ‘technical foundation’ in the field for the staff.
The course will cover workplace safety, principles of electrical and electronics, and the equipment needed for refrigeration, and implementation.
Total 32 staff enrolled in the course – at least two from each ice plant.
Fenaka said that once the staff complete their training, the corporation’s branches will be able to solve issues themselves.
Fenaka plans of providing additional training to the staff.
The Fenaka Institute has trained 245 staff since it opened on October 7, 2020.
