Whilst a large number of drugs, as per the police, have been uncovered in Hoadedhoo woods – a man was arrested from the island on last Tuesday in a counter-narcotics operation.
The man – Abdulla Rasheed, 43 – had passed away whilst in police custody. His family alleges that Abdulla died as a result of negligence by the police, as he repeatedly complained of chest pain, which the officers dismissed as an act and denied him medical treatment.
Sun has learned that the drugs were uncovered during the same operation which saw Abdulla's arrest.
Abdulla’s family reported on Thursday that the police had searched his residence.
Police, and National Integrity Commission (NIC) has decided to conduct an autopsy on Abdulla’s body, which the family has objected to. The family pleas the handover his body for burial as soon as possible.
